Some Memories from my Trip To Alaska

Glacier bay is a great place to visit especially at the start of the season. Have added some photos and memoirs that I hope you will enjoy.

The Glaciers are very impressive as you can see. A lot of floating ice and icebergs about. Some larger chunks, in particular can make one feel nervous. We see one photo of a large hole in the ice. Probably some Inuit Eskimo fell into it. Or else it is a polar bear’s feeding spot.

A great way to explore the terrain is by seaplane. Great also for getting some excellent photos. Notice Captain Luke is co-pilot for this trip. Yes, he had served as part of air reconnaissance during the Vietnam era, but that was a long time ago. Wonder if I feel safe? You see some nice photos of the volcano at Sitka. Wish I got up a little earlier to take some photos, up close, but I had a wicked hangover. Overall Sitka is a very quaint town – well worth visiting. Well known for it furs and it also has some excellent microbreweries. Of course I sampled quite a number of these and picked up a chinchilla fur for my mum. If I had known at the time that this is a rare species – going extinct, I would have given this a skip. We see here a large Totem Pole from the indigenous culture.

Above some photos of me getting pretty soused at dinner. Of course I had been at happy hour first. Also there was excellent classical violin music playing in the lounge every night. Really soothing to listen to, since it puts one in a very mellow and reflective mood. Just being in the moment with no hang-ups. Also some pictures of Ketchikan and Victoria British Columbia, that I also visited. We see a local blacksmith at work. Had not been in Canada for over twenty years, so it was interesting to visit it once again. I found Victoria a great town to meet people on the fly to party with. Got so involved in the celebrations and late night dancing that I almost my ship’s departure.
